Nurture
We our very proud of our Nurture room which we call "The TreeHouse" here in Ballysillan. Our nurture initiatives in school are led by our Vice Principal and Pastoral Care Co-ordinator, Mrs Davidson. Mrs Davidson is a Nurture U.K trained specialist.
Nurture allows children to connect with others, to build important relationships, and to develop a sense of self-worth. It helps them learn, play and communicate – enabling children to thrive.
Our Nurture sessions run three days a week: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Every half term we assess the wellbeing of our children, classes and groups to create a timetable which focuses upon our children's individual needs in the here and now.
These sessions will vary from extra Literacy and Numeracy support, play skills, emotional regulation, friendship issues, bereavement, conflict resolution or self confidence/self esteem enhancement. We have received wonderful feedback from our children and parents who can see the immediate and long term benefits of their children attending Nurture sessions in The Treehouse.
